Overstrand Hotel, Shanklin
![]() Overstrand Hotel The Overstrand, overlooking Shanklin beach, is one of the finest character houses on the Isle of Wight, delightfully situated within 3 acres of gardens. It has superb sea and coastal views over the famous Sandown Bay. The imposing historic exterior is complemented inside with all the comforts of a modern hotel, yet still retaining all its character. The grounds of the Overstrand provide private access to the scenic clifftop footpath from Sandown to Shanklin, along which are numerous routes down to the beach and beach walk. There is a children's play area with a trampoline, a grass tennis court and a nine hole putting green for you to try your hand at. Within the spacious grounds are extensive lawns for you to play other sports and games, or for the less strenuous - just sun bathe. Refreshments are available throughout the day. The three acres of grounds have numerous facilities for the enjoyment of guests. Pleasant gardens to stroll around and to admire the flowers and shrubs. Bedrooms are all non-smoking and have superb en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, radio & baby listening and colour televisions. The Overstrand is also centrally heated, and a real log fire makes those off-season breaks even more comfortable and relaxing. There is a separate television lounge, a fully stocked bar lounge with a delightful patio through french doors where you can enjoy drinks under the shade of lime trees. The spacious dining room has views overlooking the ocean and the extensive gardens. There is ample free car parking within the hotel grounds. Sorry, no dogs are permitted. Packed lunches are available upon request. |
