Farringford, Freshwater
As you approach the beautifully apportioned Farringford estate along the long sweeping drive flanked by mature trees, you will appreciate why Alfred Lord Tennyson chose this immensely charming house as his home. Farringford is situated in 33 acres of mature parkland. Spreading beyond the hotel's own grounds are 1000 acres of National Trust downland making the location ideal for every type of outdoor activity. Within the grounds there is a Par 3 nine-hole golf course, together with a nine-hole putting green. There is a heated outdoor pool with separate children's area and swings and play area. The grounds further boast a hard tennis court, croquet lawn, bowling green and poolside bistro. Locally, there is horse riding, cycling, walking and, of course, the sea is within easy reach down the coastal path. The restaurant boasts an AA rosette for its fine cuisine. Within the grounds are the self-catering facilities, all of which have television, fully equipped kitchen and radio. All accommodation has direct dial telephones. Guests are very welcome to utilise all the facilties and join other guests for the evening entertainment and dining events in the main restaurant. Farringford has a civil wedding license and can cater for parties of up to 150. Beauty treatments for both men and women are also available. |
