Opening times: 28 March to 30 October 2011, daily ![]() Blackgang Chine © Blackgang Chine Once the haunt of fishermen and smugglers, Blackgang Chine is now a 40-acre cliff top park with attractions for all the family. Themed areas include Frontierland, Dinosaurland, Fantasyland and Nurseryland. A 100 metre Water-Force boat slide for the brave-hearted, junior roundabouts for children, and many activity play areas make sure that the child in all of us is well catered for. Rumpus Mansion with its goblins and trolls, the Smugglers Cave, the Weather Wizard, the magical Pet Shop and the Triassic Club are all indoor animated shows, while the Sawmill and St Catherine's Quay exhibition depict life on the coast in days gone by. The Pirates Pantry offers a range of hot and cold meals as well as light snacks and delicious cakes. New for 2010 is a separate entrance to The Disappearing Village, which includes a brand new exhibition called BBC Coast, based on the popular BBC television series. Within this new area can also be found The World of Timber, a refurbished woodland exhibition, and The Wight Experience, a thrilling 70-seat cinema showing an inspiring aerial film over the Island. A new shop called Contraband reflects Blackgang's smuggling heritage and of course Chocolate Heaven stocks all things chocolaty & yummy! Unlimited free return visit within 7 days (excluding special events) and group rates available for 15 or more persons. Disabled toilets available. Depending on the time of year, other facilities include La Cantina in Cowboy town and the General Stores with a range of western merchandise. The main shop stocks a wide selection of Island gifts and souvenirs. |
