Dinosaur Farm Museum
Military Road, Brighstone, PO30 4PG (view map)
Opening times: All year, daily In 1992 Western Europe's best brachiosaur - 15 metres in length, was discovered on the Isle of Wight. This farm project was launched to bring palaeontology to a wider audience. You can see and talk to experts conserving dinosaur bones. Handle real dinosaur bones. Bring your camera - there is always something new to see. You can bring in your own fossils and have your questions answered. This really is a 'hands-on' musuem and there are no barriers between the experts and the visitors. See projects such as the 'Bembridge crocodile' and the Polancanthus, the first in Britain with a more accurate skull. Also within the site is a museum shop selling themed souvenirs and locally collected fossils. Tea room housed in a converted 17th Century farmhouse. |
