Shipwreck and Maritime Experience
Main Road, Arreton, Newport. PO30 3AA (view map)
Opening times: Easter to October, daily Privately owned by a professional diver who has located scores of shipwrecks in Isle of Wight waters, the museum is overflowing with maritime relics spanning many centuries. He has personally recovered the majority of the collection from waters around the Isle of Wight, although some artefacts are from other locations both in the British Isles and overseas. Six galleries include displays of 'Pieces of Eight' and pirate treasure, countless artifacts recovered from wrecks, antique and modern diving equipment, videos of diving and lifeboat rescues, local history and much more. |
