Crab Inn - High Street, Shanklin Old Village

Savour the historic atmosphere of Shanklin's old coaching inn, which dates from the 1820's. Situated at the top of the famous chine, this beautiful thatched pub is one of the most photographed in Britain. The friendly attractive exterior is echoed inside, where families are made especially welcome.

Fishermans Cottage - Esplanade, Shanklin

Beautifully situated right on Appley beach, the thatched cottage was built in 1817 by Shanklin's first operator of covered 'bathing machines'. Inside the low-beamed bar, the pub's history is recorded in the period pictures that line the walls. In prime position on Shanklin seafront, the steamer inn has a delightful nautical atmosphere which takes you back to the days when paddle steamers called at the magnificent Victorian pier, which was sadly lost in the great storm of 1987.
