Ferry travel tips
There are lots of ways you can book your ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight and prices can vary greatly, particularly if you are travelling in high season.
Contact the ferry companies directThey will provide you with information about any special offers running and also send you a timetable and fares leaflet showing all the fares available in an easy to understand guide. Most of the ferry companies also list their special offers on their web sites.
Try to book onlineBoth Red Funnel and Wightlink offer reduced fares of around £5 for bookings made on the web. Both sites feature comprehensive details of fares and timetables for your journey.
Avoid busy periodsFares are lower if you travel on Fridays or Sundays, avoiding Saturdays as a supplement may be required. In addition there are even lower saver fares available for travelling mid-week, Mondays to Thursdays.
Travel in the eveningSaver fares are available if you are happy to travel after 6.25pm Saturdays to Thursdays. Remember, crossings are swift and once on the Island, you can still reach your final destination early in the evening.
Length of stayIf you are staying for 5 days or less, don't forget there are saver fares available for 5-day short breaks, overnight stay and day trips. |
