Weather & 5 Day Forecast

The Needles

The Needles © Visit Britain

Surrounded by water, the Isle of Wight can be said to have a climate of its own.

With relatively mild winters, an average annual rainfall of 76cm (31.74 inches), and high light intensity, the local climate borders on sub-tropical and allows many Mediterranean-type plants and trees and even vineyards to flourish in the open air.

Shanklin, Sandown and Ventnor are located on the south coast of the Isle of Wight and regularly top the British league for recorded hours of sunshine. The average temperature during August is 27°C.
